Scholarship Opportunities

In addition to the above scholarships, Tri-C also offers its own scholarships. Browse through them in the Scholarship Opportunities booklet. Some of the scholarships are specific to veterans.

If you plan to apply for Tri-C scholarships, you must first fill out your FAFSA. After you have completed the form, you may apply for scholarships. Keep in mind, these types of aid can alter how you use your military benefits by extending available time or reducing benefits. Discuss the pros and cons with your campus certifying official or a Veterans Campus Support Team representative before accepting scholarships.

You may also be eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant on top of your military benefits. Visit the Federal Student Aid website and click "Start Here" to fill out your FAFSA and find out. If you are eligible for and accept the Pell Grant, this money would not affect your military benefits.

There are also many places you can find third-party scholarships with varying requirements, such as College Now Greater Cleveland and the Cleveland Foundation.

Scholarship Tips: 

When applying for scholarships, keep in mind your major, experiences and additional volunteer work. Keep a complete updated resume to pull information from. It also helps to have pre-typed essays that can be used or changed for specific scholarships, etc. Remember, seek scholarships that reflect your uniqueness, area of study and veteran status. 

 

Loans

Although we generally advise against taking out loans, we understand that it is sometimes a necessity for our students. For the convenience of our students, please know that our current student loan default rate is 0.1%.

Tri-C Food Pantry

Our Metro, Western, Eastern, and Westshore campuses all have an on-site food pantry available to all of our students. Once per week during the semester, provided you are registered for courses, come in and shop for food completely free of charge. Visit The Pantry page to learn about the specifics on when the pantry at your campus is open as well as the guidelines for shopping.

Personal Laptop Loans

If you need a laptop for a day or the whole semester, visit the VMCS office on the Metro, Western, or Eastern campus to pick one up. If you are unable to make it to one of those campuses, reach out to Ally Sroczynski to obtain one.

Employment Opportunities

VA Work-Study

The VA work-study program gives you the opportunity to work part-time on campus. Some benefits of working on campus include:

• Getting paid while you're already on campus
• Flexible work hours to accommodate your class schedule
• Working with the VMCS team to get a deeper understanding of our systems and processes

Veterans Serving Veterans Internship

Veterans Serving Veterans (VSV), a local organization serving veterans and their families, is seeking a motivated and driven Nonprofit Intern to assist their team and gain experience in the nonprofit field. With this internship, you will assist VSV with vital projects in all programs.
