Teacher Education
Cuyahoga Community College offers several opportunities for those interested in pursuing a career in the field of Education. The courses offered within each program will vary depending upon the college and career path of each student. To be a lead educator in any public school setting – a four-year degree with licensure is required by The Ohio Department of Education. However, Tri-C is where futures begin and many choose an Associate’s Degree at Tri-C first and then transfer to the four-year school of their choice.
Choose your path:

Teacher Education Transfer
Are you interested in earning your degree in Education? Students interested in education at Tri-C would earn an Associate of Arts degree, which would include foundational coursework such as general education and introductory education classes, in order to transfer to a four-year baccalaureate program. The Associate of Arts degree is a flexible degree that allows students to choose coursework based on their four-year plan of study.
This course would pave the way for a career teaching in a public school system from Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade, assuming transfer to an appropriate four-year college and successful completion. Students who complete the curriculum will have completed the degree requirements as well as many of the general education courses needed to transfer to a four-year teacher preparation program. In addition, students will take a number of courses that cover the fundamentals of teaching and education. Students should consult with an academic counselor to determine the best course of action for their specific college and career goals.
