Tri-C/CSU RN-to-BSN Nursing Continuum Overview
The program provides a smooth transition and support services for students.
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) and Cleveland State University (CSU) launched the RN-to-BSN nursing continuum, a program designed to provide a smooth transition from Tri-C’s associate’s degree program to earning a bachelor’s degree at CSU. The nursing continuum will enable Tri-C graduates with a license as a registered nurse (RN) to complete their bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) in CSU’s online program while working. The program meets the needs of employers as the BSN rapidly becomes an industry standard. Most health systems now require newly hired registered nurses with associate degrees to earn the additional credential within two-to-five years.
Adding a BSN degree to your credentials can assist you with career advancement and/or acceptance into a variety of post-baccalaureate nursing programs. Students are admitted to the nursing program as juniors. The required nursing courses can be completed in three consecutive semesters (one year), with credit for nursing experience to those who qualify. The nursing curriculum provides learning opportunities that foster the development of self-direction, creativity, critical thinking and discriminative judgment.
BSN students must fulfill all 27 nursing credits at Cleveland State University.

Program Advantages
The RN-to-BSN program offers lower CSU tuition to Tri-C students who earn their associate degree in nursing and have become licensed RNs ($240 per credit hour for in-state students - check CSU's website for current updates), along with online BSN classes. Eligible students who start at CSU within 18 months of graduating from Tri-C’s program may also qualify for one of the up to 50 scholarships awarded annually.
Transfer Scholarship
Once the application has been received, eligibility requirements met and enrollment verified at CSU, Cuyahoga Community College will send an award of $1,000 to the student’s CSU account. Payment will occur no earlier than the first semester of enrollment.
Scheduling
This program comprises 27 credit hours of online coursework and includes supplemental field work and a clinical component in the final semester. The program begins in the fall and spring semester of every year. Nursing classes are scheduled for three consecutive semesters.

To make your transfer experience as seamless as possible, please consult a Tri-C counselor and an advisor from Cleveland State University (listed at the bottom of this page).
The Nursing Continuum will provide optional in-person seminar sessions that focus on the transition to the workforce for recent Tri-C grads. The sessions will give students a chance to connect with and support one another in their studies and their new roles as nurses. Both institutions are committed to working together, with their first priority being the career success of students in the program. Students will have the support of CSU nursing faculty members who will be available to provide personalized attention and mentoring.
Students will be able to apply to CSU during their last semester at Tri-C. A CSU representative will be at Tri-C's Metropolitan Campus at designated times to answer questions and facilitate transition between the institutions.

The Cleveland State University School of Nursing is a member of the Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. The professional nursing curriculum is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing and is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
